Last week, we took a look at the impact of @vaneck_us 's @solana ETF filing.
On June 27, 2024, at 9:01 AM, the SEC's Edgar database posted Form S-1 for VanEck's spot Solana ETF, following the SEC's unexpected approval of eight Ethereum ETFs on May 23, 2024.
Solana's price saw a significant increase post-announcement, climbing from $139 to $150, an 8% rise. Unlike the Ethereum case, Twitter sentiment and volume dramatically changed along with the price, indicating no information leak to the public before the announcement.
One of the theses @Dalioleechicago, @larfy_rothwell and I are exploring is how much signal you can get about price movements from social media. We analyzed the tweets around the ETH ETF approval. We observed that Tweet volume and sentiment about ETH ETFs on May 20th surged from 436 to 4,824, with positive sentiment rising from 51% to 73%.
