Hi, I'm Nadia. I am a Computer Science student. My hobbies are the art of cinema, books, hiking and animals. This account was created for my ENCS393 class :)
@SimonENCS393 Thank you for sharing. This crisis might last a long time and with that more countries should turn into more environmental friendly solutions.
@KKoudary@TRF I would suggest regulating who can use the AI. Some AI based technologies can be catastrophic if they end up in the wrong hands, just look at DALL-E2 technology to understand
@azaiezkhalil1 That's great because I've been meaning to look into it myself after we've discussed it in class, thank you. I find the rise in fake news very disturbing and something that can effect not only people but also whole countries.
#ENCS393 I remember seeing an ad of a woman talking about domestic abuse. Only one thing was different- her husband murdered her a few months back. I remember the effect it had on me. Discovering this is the company responsible reminded me of why I wanted to be a programmer.
Leveraging artificial intelligence and sophisticated technology, the company has created a unique, animated, live portrait, which animates the photos of long-lost relatives or whoever you’d like to see, as if they are in the room with you. https://t.co/1tc0mAxj5G
#ENCS393 This is how you use your power to do good. While I recognize Google is not a saint company, I know that I will be using this technology every weekend as air quality is something that greatly concerns me.
#ENCS393 This is one example where we see tracking technology being used for something that benefits the world. Locust swarms threaten south Africa's economy and in 2020 we have seen the devastating results it can have.
South Africa is banking on a tracking technology backed by the institute of Microsoft's late co-founder, Paul Allen, to tackle locust swarms (via @climate) https://t.co/t7TrkX5FO7
According to Google, their goal is to improve browsing experience by blocking annoying notifications from certain websites. But, there are still some people wondering whether this is another step for Google to control and monitor what the users see and do.
#encs393 What I can't understand is how a company that boasts about being transparent with its users, goes ahead and tries to keep this agreement a secret. They claim it's only for the browser and not the search engine, but the trust is already broken.

#ENCS393 We have an endless stream of instant pleasure that is unprecedented in human history, & TikTok is not alone. Many companies claim they try to make it less addictive, like Google that has made it possible to turn off the default auto-play option, but is it genuine?
TikTok brain is real, researchers say, and it’s affecting kids’ cognitive development. "We’ve made kids live in a candy store." https://t.co/yHUqolcg2Q
#ENCS393 DALL-E 2 technology uses AI to create realistic images or artwork from a text description written in English. While it is definitely amazing, I can't help but wonder what will happen to graphic designers, photographers and many more. https://t.co/D44my7yPfA
