Adoptive dad and teacher found guilty after he murdered and sexually abused 13 month old boy him and his boyfriend adopted.
Jamie Varley aged 37 a teacher has been found guilty of murdering and sexually abusing 13 month old Preston Davey while his boyfriend John McGowan Fazakerley aged 32 was convicted of causing or allowing the death cruelty and sexual assault.
The couple were adopting the boy together in Blackpool but subjected him to sexual ill treatment and abuse over nearly four months leading to his death on July 27th 2023 from suffocation and sexual assault.
Varley who took naked pictures of the child and filmed him in distress was convicted of murder assault by penetration 14 counts of making indecent images and other charges while McGowan Fazakerley faces a lengthy jail term.
Preston had suffered prior injuries including a broken elbow from rough handling a seizure and bruising before the fatal incident where Varley suffocated him possibly twice while alone with the boy.
The boys biological mother Sarah Davey aged 42 is a notorious murderer who killed an elderly woman as a teenager in 1998 and Preston was taken from her care shortly after birth.
Sentencing has been adjourned until Thursday with the judge noting the horrific nature of the crimes against the vulnerable child in the care of the gay adoptive dads.
