We are running out of time to pass and fully fund Home for Good.
The official deadline is May 31st — but our intel says Saturday may be the real last day to get this across the finish line.
That means the next few days matter more than ever❗️
Today, as part of our Digital Day of Action, we need every supporter to remind Illinois Senators and budgeteers to act now.
Email your Senator and Illinois budgeteers today using the link: https://t.co/iK2BqZZwXi

#HomeForGoodIL
For the last year and a half, people from every corner of Illinois have been coming together in Springfield to fight for one thing: safe, stable housing for people coming home.
The Home For Good coalition now stretches across 86 cities in 26 counties — from Chicago to Rockford to Southern Illinois and everywhere in between. This movement is proof that housing insecurity after incarceration is not just a “Chicago issue” or a problem facing one demographic. It impacts families in every region, every community, and every zip code across our state.
We’ve seen directly that no matter where someone lives, coming home without housing creates barriers to stability, employment, reunification, and safety. That’s why organizers, impacted people, service providers, faith leaders, and advocates from all across Illinois have united behind Home For Good.
This coalition is broad because the problem is broad. And together, we’re building a statewide movement to make sure everyone has a real chance to come home and stay home.
Illinois is ready for Home For Good❗️

Many formerly incarcerated people aren’t able to access affordable housing because of their record. Denying justice impacted people affordable housing leads to an increase in recidivism! This is beneficial to NO ONE❗️housing the populations that need it most should be a priority in Illinois. Help us put an end to the housing struggles people face when returning home.

People leaving prison in Illinois are often sent out with just $15-$25 and a train ticket, and sometimes not even that. No family to call. No money for food. No place to sleep. Just a bus or train ride back into the same struggles they fought to escape.
When we release people with no plan and no support, we shouldn't be surprised when homelessness and desperation follow. That's not a second chance, it's a setup to fail. Illinois can do better.
Home for Good would make sure every person leaving prison has a housing plan before they walk out the door. Because everyone deserves a real chance to rebuild their life, come home safely, and stay Home for Good!
Today is our DIGITAL DAY OF ACTION❗️📢follow along with Illinois Coalition to End Permanent Punishments and Illinois Justice Project as we advocate for justice impacted people! WRITE YOUR LEGISLATORS AT https://t.co/iK2BqZZwXi reminding them about Home For Good, encouraging them to support. 🏛️

🚨The State of Illinois has officially proclaimed April 2026 as Second Chance Month!
While closing out this year’s Second Chance Month, we reflect on our hard work advocating for the Clean Slate Act, Permanent Punishment Review Task Force, and Home For Good. https://t.co/EXcRjBLS4b is committed to making reentry easier every step of the way because we know that when needs are met, recidivism rates decline❗️
The proclamation reads, “Second Chance Month is an opportunity to recognize the need to eliminate barriers that hinder successful reentry and to affirm that true justice includes ensuring access to opportunities for those who have been most vulnerable and marginalized.”
Our continued advocacy in the State Capitol is paying off! 🏛️ Let’s keep it up!
