Section 14(2)(b) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended) provides that, ‘the security and welfare of the people shall be the primary purpose of government.’
The buck stops at your table @officialABAT, as it is the solemn obligation you swore to uphold.
The Federal High Court in Abuja has convicted and sentenced Idris Abdulmalik Omeiza, Al Qasim Idris, Jamiu Abdulmalik, and Abdulhaleem Idris to death by hanging for their roles in the June 5, 2022, terrorist attack on St. Francis Catholic Church in Owo, Ondo State, which killed over 40 worshippers including children.
The Nigerian Armed Forces is known for resilience. There is no way terrorists will succeed in bringing Nigeria to its knees. Therefore those sponsoring them should prepare for what will come to them soon. Do not say I didn't warn you.
PRESS RELEASE
EDO POLICE COMMAND DEBUNKS FALSE KIDNAPPING REPORT INVOLVING STUDENTS OF GREEN PARK ACADEMY, ADUWAWA
The Edo State Police Command has become aware of a misleading and unfounded report circulating on social media alleging that students of Green Park Academy, Aduwawa, Benin City, were kidnapped. The false narrative, which is being propagated by a woman popularly known as “Azawoman,” has generated unnecessary concern among members of the public.
Following a thorough verification and preliminary investigation by the Command, it has been established that no kidnapping incident occurred at the school as alleged. Findings reveal that the report is entirely false, lacks any factual basis, and was deliberately disseminated to misinform the public and create unwarranted panic within the State.
The Command strongly condemns the reckless spread of false information capable of undermining public confidence, causing fear among residents, and diverting attention from genuine security concerns. Such actions constitute a threat to public order and will not be tolerated.
Consequently, the Command has commenced steps to apprehend the originator of the false report for questioning and possible prosecution in accordance with extant laws.
The Edo State Police Command therefore urges members of the public to exercise restraint and responsibility in their use of social media by verifying information through credible and official sources before sharing same. The public is further encouraged to report security-related concerns through appropriate channels to enable prompt verification and response by law enforcement agencies.
The Commissioner of Police, Edo State Command, CP Monday Agbonika, fdc, reassures residents that the security situation in the State remains under control and that the Command is committed to safeguarding lives and property. He also appreciates the continued cooperation of law-abiding citizens and calls for sustained support in the collective effort to maintain peace, security, and public order across Edo State.

One of the most consistent patterns I have observed in my 26-year journalism career is this: people admire and praise your work until they enter government. The moment they become elected or appointed officials, many begin to see the same journalism they once applauded as hostile or inconvenient. Then, after leaving office, they often rediscover its value. There seems to be something about public office that narrows objectivity. What is striking is how often this cycle repeats itself.
The idea of good governance has been narrowed to politics that benefits only a few. This is because citizens refuse to take responsibility and demand performance from their leaders regardless. Insecurity is purely due to bad governance
The fight against insecurity must remain a national priority.
The government needs to act with greater urgency to:
✅ Eliminate the terrorists who continue to threaten innocent lives and communities.
✅ Identify, expose, arrest, and prosecute their sponsors, financiers, collaborators, and enablers.
As long as those funding and supporting terrorism remain untouched, the cycle of violence will continue.
Nigerians deserve to live without fear. The protection of lives and property must be treated as an urgent and non-negotiable responsibility.
Enough is enough. The time for decisive action is now.
God bless Nigeria. 🇳🇬
