@ithurtstowalk but…i would’ve never figured the entire show is actually about the maker’s depression without EoE’s Insane WTF visuals and the youtube video i watched after..
When are we gonna give @gstreamer a snarky twitter personality? I wanna see some @theo esque gstreamer beef on this app. Throw MacOS Compressor in there too. Fuck it, I wanna fight with glibc personified on twitter right now.
@berserkx33@JoobyAndFriends@GabStarz__@BowlOfSpagooter@St1ka@Soficious_ I think Christian Whitehead’s career covers the spectrum pretty well:
Retro Sonic: fangame that wasn’t ‘published’ in any formal sense ❌
Sonic Mania: financed and published by Sega ❌
Penny’s Big Breakaway: original work by a small team and published by an indie publisher ✔️
@berserkx33@JoobyAndFriends@GabStarz__@BowlOfSpagooter@St1ka@Soficious_ Yume Nikki is absolutely indie and yes it was developed as a hobby. I’d argue it went from ‘hobbyist game’ to ‘indie game’ as soon as it was self-published on Kikiyama’s website. The term ‘Indie’ is all to do with publishing on both the high-end and low-end of the spectrum.
@JoobyAndFriends@St1ka I think there’s an interesting distinction to make between self publishing and hobbyist game dev with NO publishing. “Indie game” is super vague and OP’s dogmatic definition falls apart under any real scrutiny. ig mario maker levels and playstation dreams games are indie too lol
@FNCreate Nooo. You can’t change it from XYZ to LUF. XYZ is an industry standard. It’s so much easier to use across different tools because X always means the X axis, Y always means the Y axis, and Z always means the Z axis. :^)
