Engineer, Inventor, Dad, STEM Educator, Philosopher, Stoic, Knight of Camelot | Opinions are (mostly) my own. "You can never have too many drill bits."
Engineer since I was knee high. Invented motorised plank of wood aged 8 with spare RC motors, a whole lot of D cells, WD40 and duct tape. Often found randomly bringing stuff together to make inanimate objects move. Occasionally also do the same with people, reluctantly.
@A1an_M@davidyelland Also, "the algorithm" doesn't work like that and programming it in such a way is unlikely to yield this sort of conspiratorial junk. YouTube and TikTok and Instagram offer up far more junk but I don't see them being singled out.
Martin Luther King: βI have a dream that one day my children will not be judged by the colour of their skin.β
British police: βI donβt think so, mate.β
@vulpine2020 Salaries for specialists are now at junk levels. If you're young, do yourself a favour and move to the US. There at least you have half a chance of earning what you're worth.

Why are highly skilled people asking for such low salaries. This country is done, a little ambition and they could make that per month.
@RichardJMurphy Going to call bullshit on this one. The vast majority were there to protest directly at the police and to pay respects to the murdered boy. Police should have been sensible and kept a low profile. Instead, their attitude was for a fight. No shops were looted or cars set on fire.
@PippaCrerar Is he the same man who kneeled following the death of an American man, trying to politicise his death and bring America's racial divisions to the UK?
Or was that a different Keir Starmer?
I find it kind of astonishing that people who were enraged about police officers being attacked at Manchester Airport went to Southampton last night to ermβ¦.attack police officers π€
We once had to contend with calls for a "diversity consultant" who was meant to come hunt for racism at 37s. Not because anyone had ever seen or heard of any, but because it could all have been hidden or internalized. Real witch doctor madness era.
@alexhrbfc@LoftusSteve If you watch the episode you'll see that he mentions wealthy people buying farms, himself included, but that Reeve's vendetta against success has just hurt British farmers who, when you take away the fact that the value is all in the tools of production have less than zero.
Britain's biggest problem isn't that people have stopped working hard.
It's that working hard no longer guarantees the security, stability and quality of life it once did.
More people recognise that every day now.
