ECoB exists to empower citizens to build a better Burlington, and to encourage #BurlON council to adopt new methods of engagement. Independent and non-partisan.
Not interested in slanging matches with anybody. Pointless, juvenile and counterproductive. If you can't have a reasonable conversation without resorting to insults I don't care who you are, I will block you.
Got a problem with that? Email @rolandjtanner.
@pete_ward_@cityburlington@MariannMeedWard You stated the church was under immediate threat and needed to be saved. That was all we were asking about. Thank you for confirming it is not.
@pete_ward_@cityburlington@MariannMeedWard We asked a civil question. You implied the church was under immediate threat and needed to be saved. It is not, until such time as the Presbyterian church wishes to sell. Hyperbole does not help. We're committed to fairness and accuracy, not playing "sides".
@pete_ward_@cityburlington@MariannMeedWard Doesn't that presuppose that a) Church wanted to sell land or develop it and b) city decided not to designate as a provincially protected building and give permit to demolish? Any evidence either thing on the cards?
ECoB, We Love Burlington and Plan B today sent a joint open letter to Council re the staff recommendation to maintain MTSA designation on downtown following the ICBL review. - https://t.co/Z56VjM4vlN
@BlairSmith49 @pete_ward_@JimYoun78197651@burlington_we@BurlingtonGazet@cityburlington For the record, nobody at ECoB has ever suggested, or will ever suggest 'doing nothing'. Quite the opposite. At the most this discussion is about how best to do the things that everybody agrees need to be done.
@pete_ward_@BurlingtonGazet Finally Pete - you are entitled to your views as a resident independent of the Mayor. I know. But there's no point having a more civil atmosphere at City Hall if the people who care abt #BurlON enough to delegate get called out on social media for daring to have an opinion.
@burlington_we@pete_ward_@BurlingtonGazet Don't particularly want to get into a Twitter spat on this, but all this assumes that OPs in Urban Growth Centres matter. They frankly have very limited value. The reason downtown Oakville has not highrises is because it is not an Urban Growth Centre, not because of their OP.
Too much stick & not enough carrot is a risk with a lot of environmental initiatives, and is perhaps part of the reason there's been so much polarisation around green policies. We need always to show how green initiatives will 'pay off' for citizens. #BurlON
