Recovery thru acceleration, as opposed to deficit thinking focused on learning loss, empowers schools to develop a comprehensive plan to determine where learners currently are to help them get back on track and accelerate their learning https://t.co/a2TAUwXSQQ #edchat#suptchat
We’re reimagining our community by prioritizing SEL during these times of COVID. A tremendous thank you to our leaders in this area in CUSD #205.

This is the time of year where fatigue and stress can begin to take its toll on educators. So, be kind, patient, and supportive of staff. colleagues, and even your admin because you never know what others may be going through. We need to check in and check on each other.
#ThoughtForTheDay Every contribution, regardless of how big or small, is an opportunity to value what people bring to an organization. When we dismiss or fail to acknowledge students’, staff or volunteers’ efforts, we miss an opportunity to strengthen our culture. #Culturize
Signs of healthy school culture :
* clear/ shared vision
* people are priority
* communication is 2 way street
* trust
* team focus
*input/feedback from staff
* support/encouragement
* everyone is valued
* respect time
* self care
* let kids learn as kids (play, movement)
It’s not rules but relationships that make an effective running classroom. But the relationships have to be built on routines, expectations, respect, relevance and responsibility.
Flicking through Relentless & spotted this quote I wrote, its even more relevant today than ever before! We need to make our students mental health & well-being a greater priority than test scores!
I know we’re in a “kid business” … but it’s hard to be an effective administrator if you don’t love teachers too. They do the core work of the school, and it’s crucial that they feel valued and supported.
The climate of a school is created by the relationships of all members of the school community. But, it is the principal who sets the tone. It’s the principal who can positively advance culture....and it’s the principal who can ruin it.
A critical job of middle-grade #elementary teachers is to support all children to build on their understanding of whole numbers and conceptualize fractions as part of the number system—but this teaching can be complex. Need resources? https://t.co/FTcvJHDXTv #iteachmath
#ThoughtForTheDay When a family reaches out to their child’s school in their time of need that signals that the culture of the school is what that family needs at that time. That is a beautiful thing. Every school should strive to be that place of connection. #Culturize
