I’ve been thinking about selling some HYPE.
Why? Because I’m up a lot, and taking some profits seems reasonable. But then the obvious question comes up: what would I even buy or hold instead?
There isn’t much out there that I’m interested in holding right now. Over the past few years I’ve also sold HYPE at good levels before, and i'm already having good enough stables, so I keep asking myself what should i do? and we all know that in hindsight after you did something, it's very obvious what you could have done better. but it's not easy to see now.
The funny thing is, if a few months from now I decide to buy sth, there’s a good chance it’ll just be HYPE again. The only question is whether that’ll be at higher prices or lower prices.
From the beginning, my rough framework was to start reducing exposure once HYPE reached the top 10, and eventually the top 5. But maybe the real question isn’t about HYPE itself. Maybe it’s about how much non-stable exposure I’m comfortable having overall.
Taking profits is the logical answer. What I’m still trying to figure out is what the bigger objective should be. What’s the actual point where I can say, “Okay, I’ve achieved what I wanted, now it makes sense to reduce risk”? At the same time, you look around and see most other coins getting wrecked, which makes you feel worse about crypto as a whole.
Part of me thinks something like 80% stables and 20% HYPE is a healthy balance. Then I look at friends who have 50% of their net worth in HYPE and have absolutely crushed it. Big gains rarely come from being moderate and careful. But also if you’re not careful, you eventually lose, and sometimes you don’t get another chance to stay in the game.
Still trying to figure out what the right balance is between staying protected and keeping enough exposure to benefit if things keep going up.
