Takeaways from the NUPRC’s participation at the Oil and Gas Trainers Association of Nigeria #OGTAN inaugural Human Capital Development (HCD) Conference & Expo 2026 in Warri
✅ Nigeria’s workforce needs to be upskilled in order to fully benefit from the current oil and gas reforms
✅ The academia has the research knowledge but it’s the companies that have the funding. There must thus be a handshake across the board for Nigeria to maximize its talent
✅ The oil industry needs a stronger and more structured framework for continuous professional development (CPD).
✅ Finally, human capital development should be viewed as a strategic enabler of investment competitiveness.

Unfortunately, Atiku Abubakar is using economic populism to take the country backward. If you go back to subsidy, you are going to hit the oil and gas sector really hard and in a negative manner. Your Dangote Refinery IPO doesn’t happen, the Dangote Refinery operation will not happen, and no investor is going to invest in the refinery

“Don’t call me Tony, call me Mr. Elumelu or ‘TOE.’”

Now, what exactly is the difference between being called “Tony” and “TOE”? Much ado about nothing!
This is what Nigerians used to call “money miss road.”
