SOKOTO STATE GOVERNMENT APPROVES PURCHASE OF MOTORCYCLES FOR DISTRIBUTION TO CIVIL SERVANTS AT A SUBSIDISED RATE
Governor Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto has approved the purchase of motorcycles for distribution to civil servants at a 35% subsidy.
He announced this at the 2026 May Day celebration held at Giginya Memorial Stadium, Sokoto.
Alhaji Ahmed Aliyu said this was in response to a request made by the state chapter of the NLC in that regard.
The Governor, who was represented by his Deputy, Alhaji Idris Mohammed Gobir, enumerated various gestures extended to civil servants in the state.
He said this was aimed at reinvigorating the civil service with a view to creating a productive, motivated, and dignified workforce.
While thanking the civil servants for their continued support for his administration, the Governor enjoined them to be punctual and dedicated to their duties.
In an address, the Head of Service, Alhaji Abdulkadir Ahmad, expressed satisfaction with the cordial relationship between the state government and the NLC, which he said has contributed to ensuring labour harmony.
Alhaji Abdulkadir Ahmad thanked the state government for genuinely showing its support for civil servants by restoring many incentives that were hitherto stopped.
In a welcome address, the State Chairman of the NLC, Comrade Abdullahi Jungul, expressed appreciation to the state government for its various support to civil servants since its assumption of office.
Comrade Jungul assured the government of the continued support of civil servants in achieving more successes.
He however, appealed to the government to look into the possibility of increasing the monthly pensions of those who retired years ago, adding that some of them are still receiving ₦4,000 or ₦5,000 as monthly pensions.
The State NLC Chairman also stressed the need to start allocating the houses purchased by the state government from the Federal Government in the Kwannawa area to prevent them from deteriorating.
The highlight of the occasion was the presentation of an award of appreciation to Governor Ahmed Aliyu Governor by the NLC.

SOKOTO DEPUTY GOVERNOR INSPECTS PROJECTS WORTH BILLIONS OF NAIRA BEING EXECUTED BY AHMED ALIYU’S ADMINISTRATION IN GADA LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA
Sokoto State Deputy Governor, Alhaji Idris Gobir, has inspected projects worth billions of naira being executed by the state government in Gada Local Government Area.
The projects include the 21.8-kilometre Kaffe–Kaddi Sabon Gari Road, the 9.5-kilometre Gada–Ila–Tabani Road, and the Gada Agro Logistics Centre.
Others are the General Hospital and the Gada Central Jumu'at Mosque.
Briefing the Deputy Governor, the Special Adviser on Rural Roads, Malami Mohammed Galadanci, said the Kaffe–Kaddi Sabon Gari Road was awarded to M/S Gerawa Global Engineering Nigeria Limited at a cost of over ₦5.1 billion.
He said the road links eight towns, including Kaffe, Gidan Bawa, Gidan Gyado, Gidan Hashimu, Karangiya, Tsitse, Kaddi Arawa, and Kaddi Sabon Gari.
The Special adviser added that the project has so far reached 52% completion.
Commenting, the Deputy Governor, Alhaji Idris Gobir, expressed satisfaction with the quality and progress of the work.
He said the project will go a long way in boosting economic activities across the area, as it is endowed with fadama land.
The Deputy Governor assured that all observations noted in the construction work would be addressed accordingly.
In their separate responses, the village heads of Kaddi Arawa, Kaddi Sabon Gari, and Gidan Hashimu described the project as a dream come true.
They said the lack of roads had been a major challenge faced by the communities for over 50 years.
According to them, farmers spend hours transporting their produce to Gada town due to the sandy and muddy nature of the area.
The village heads, therefore, expressed their gratitude to Governor Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto for awarding the contract.
At the Gada–Ila–Tabani Road, the Special Adviser, Malami Galadanci, said the project was awarded to Anchor Nuel Resources Limited at a cost of ₦2.8 billion.
He said the project has reached 62% completion and will be tarred.
Responding, the Deputy Governor commended the construction firm for adhering to the contractual agreement in executing the project.
The Deputy Governor also visited the Gada Agro Logistics Centre under construction and was taken round by the Special Adviser, Malami Mohammed Galadanci.
The Special Adviser said the project was initiated to streamline the agricultural supply chain and reduce post-harvest losses.
He added that it will enhance market efficiency, reduce waste, and support the commercialization of farming activities in the area.
The facility will include sections for onions, garlic, grains, livestock, and an abattoir.
The Deputy Governor also visited the Gada General Hospital, which has been completely renovated along with staff quarters.
Briefing the Deputy Governor, the Chairman of the area, Alhaji Zayyanu Gada, said the renovation is nearing completion.
He added that several inspection visits were carried personally by him during the exercise and expressed satisfaction with the quality of work executed.
Alhaji Zayyanu Gada thanked the state government for executing various development projects within the area.
The Deputy Governor also visited the Gada Central Jumu'at Mosque, where he expressed satisfaction with the level of work.

SOKOTO SIGNS LANDMARK MoU WITH KEDCO TO BOOST POWER SUPPLY
The Sokoto State Government, under the leadership of His Excellency, Dr. Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO) aimed at improving electricity supply across Sokoto State.
This significant development was disclosed by the Sokoto State Deputy Governor, Idris Muhammad Gobir, who represented Sokoto State Governor at the crucial Kaduna Electric Energy Summit currently taking place in London, United Kingdom.
According to the Deputy Governor, the agreement form part of the deliberate efforts of the Governor Aliyu-led administration to achieve the much-desired improvement in electricity supply to the people of Sokoto State.
The initiative is expected to boost socio-economic activities, attract investment, and enhance the living standard of the people of Sokoto State.
The summit brought together top government officials, energy experts, and relevant stakeholders to explore strategic investment opportunities within the Kaduna Electric franchise area and chart a new course for improved power distribution in the region.
The partnership with KEDCO is expected to open a new chapter in the state’s electricity sector, in line with the provisions of the 2023 Electricity Act, which seeks to enhance private sector participation and expand access to electricity.
The administration of Governor Ahmad Aliyu remains resolute in its determination to deliver people-oriented policies and projects that will positively impact the lives of citizens, and this new electricity partnership is yet another bold step toward fulfilling that commitment.
