Meet our next Rising Star, Akiyl El! Hailing from NYC, he attends NYU as a mechanical engineering student, and through #oSTEM, he found a deep love for his community because it has empowered him to be his authentic self everyday! https://t.co/i0SfTlvwcs
Novel research from @UMassAmherst: assistant professor Yanfei Xu shows how to build polymer films with unique advantages over traditional heat conductors, such as metals and ceramics. The process could have big implications for electronic devices: https://t.co/lyaXnJOzk8
Why do scientists like Beaker love marionettes? Because they're big fans of STRING theory! Ahhhhh! #WockaWocka! …Do you feel like you need a scientist to explain this joke? Me too.
Congratulations to @enginqueering Phoebe Bisnoff for her Lasting Legacy Award for founding @UMassOSTEM and the impact that this will have on all current and future students!
Today @ 4:30 on @WMUA a new episode of Lab Talk w/ Laura w/ some leaders from @UMassOSTEM - chemical engineers @thetruestsam Robin Zollner and @sabnis_sanket talk about being LGBTQ+ in STEM and explain why they love chemistry and how they use it, comedian Taylor Ortiz co-hosts
It brings them such joy to see how @UMassOSTEM grew into a community where everyone genuinely fiercely cares about each other, and though they would like to take the credit, they said they just planted the seed. And that alone makes them proud.
After three years, Phoebe can safely say that this is one of their proudest accomplishments of their undergraduate career, especially now that they, in their final year as a student there, can see how much of a resource it's been for newer #LGBTQ#STEM students.
