The casualties will rise because there are still people under the rubble. This is higher than the Beirut port explosion. Threatening *an entire population* with death, if acted upon, would be the worst crime against humanity, and history. Nothing could be worse. That he has even said this should alarm every American, every citizen of the world.

This is not hyperbole. This is a direct threat, when he has already put a timestamp on a deadline: tonight at 8p Eastern.

Members of Congress, both the House and Senate, especially the leadership, should demand public clarification from the president, immediately. This is the potential bitter fruit of Congress' failure to serve its Constitutional function by checking and balancing the Chief Executive. Now he believes he's free to do as he pleases, answering to no one.

Now - and I mean *right now* - is the moment, possibly a last chance, for Congress to represent us in Washington and ensure that something mad does not happen which could stain us all with a horrible crime, and consequences of which could be devastating even on us, as the retaliation against America could be greater, more deadly than anyone in the White House is apparently imagining.
