FHC JUDGMENT: BOARD OF TRUSTEES, STATE CHAIRMEN AND GUBERNATORIAL CANDIDATES REAFFIRM SUPPORT FOR TURAKI-LED LEADERSHIP, RESOLVE TO APPEAL

The Federal High Court, Abuja Division, per Justice Salim Olasupo Salim, last week dismissed a suit filed by the Chairman and members of the Board of Trustees; and some founding members of the party, which sought an order for the recognition of the Interim National Working Committee led by Kabiru Turaki, SAN. This Interim National Working Committee was set up by the National Executive Committee arising from the leadership vacuum created by the judgment of the Supreme Court on the leadership of the party.

Following the judgment of the FHC, the party convened a Special Stakeholders Meeting in Abuja, bringing together Members of the Board of Trustees, State Chairmen, Ex-officio members, and Gubernatorial Candidates of the party. The meeting was chaired by the Chairman of the Interim National Working Committee, Kabiru Tanimu Turaki SAN.

At the meeting, the stakeholders unanimously commended the leadership of the Interim National Working Committee under Kabiru Turaki, SAN, and resolved to appeal the judgment of the Federal High Court. The Board of Trustees through its Secretary, Dr. Muazu Babangida Aliyu affirmed its readiness to pursue the appeal through all available legal channels.

The Forum of State Chairmen, speaking through its Chairman, Dr. Tony Aziegbemi, conveyed the forum's full confidence in the Turaki-led leadership. Gubernatorial candidates under the party's platform equally declared their commitment to the party's constitutional process and legitimate leadership structure.

The meeting further directed all State Chairmen and candidates to immediately commence grassroots mobilisation and citizens' engagement activities across their respective states.

The @OfficialPDPNig remains resolute in its pursuit of democratic values, as a true opposition party, and not an appendage of the ruling party. Multi-party democracy is the surest panacea against the enthronement of full authoritarianism in our country.
