Hand made … from my DVA supplied 20mm lapel badge and a 2D sketch as guides this wall plaque (150mm) was forged from first producing an air-dried clay model (pattern) then formed a silicone mould to cast a 2-part resin crest then mounted on fine Tasmanian Oak and finished in enamel and polyurethane. Who needs a 3D printer when olde school skills are more therapeutic and results are rustic.

#OnThisDay 1919 the Ships' Police Branch was replaced by the @royalnavy Regulating Branch, made up from Regulating Petty Officers & Master's at Arms, the Leading Regulator came later. In 2007 the Branch remustered as @RoyalNavyPolice and can trace its roots to 17th c.

@simonharley@AC_NavalHistory There may have been provisions back then for the next higher rank title to be afforded for service “in retirement” where the officer had served in the rank for a period (1-3yrs?) Plausible reason?
