Today, we have launched the 10th National Conference on Communications (#NCC2026), marking the start of preparations for Uganda’s leading ICT research and innovation platform.

Scheduled for June 24–26, 2026, at @Makerere, the conference will convene stakeholders from government, academia, industry, and the innovation ecosystem under the theme “Accelerating Market-Driven Research and Innovation for Uganda’s Development,” with a focus on strengthening the link between research and practical application while showcasing locally developed solutions.

The remarks underscored the role of universities as drivers of innovation, citing initiatives such as Kiira Motors Corporation and government support through the Makerere University Research and Innovation Fund. He also outlined key conference activities, including research presentations, industry engagements, exhibitions, and innovation competitions targeting secondary schools.

In addition, Prof. Kizito highlighted ongoing pre-conference activities such as scientific writing masterclasses being conducted across universities to support emerging researchers. He reaffirmed CEDAT’s commitment to the conference and called for continued collaboration among stakeholders to deliver a successful and impactful 10th NCC.
