Behind most outcomes is a system rewarding one behavior and punishing another.
People repeat what works.
Over time, those behaviors become culture.
Then we forget how they started in the first place.
Every week there's another attack.
Every week there's another explanation.
Every week there's another promise.
The insecurity is the only thing showing consistent growth in this country!
Dangote reduces price. Crude drops.
Filling stations still hold price.
But let one thing increase tomorrow, they will adjust before morning.
This country rewards greed too much
How did we get to the point where knowing somebody became more important than following the process?
A recommendation is now worth more than competence.
A connection is now worth more than merit.
Then we expect politicians to be different from the society that produced them.
People say the government has failed.
Fair.
But if tomorrow the government became competent, would people suddenly stop overpricing, bribing, cheating, cutting corners and looking for connections?
@official_Gegeh It's a sustained behavior..
In a healthy society:
Be trustworthy → get ahead.
Be competent → get ahead.
Build value → get ahead.
In an unhealthy one:
Know somebody → get ahead.
Cut corners → get ahead.
Exploit people → get ahead.
People say the government has failed.
Fair.
But if tomorrow the government became competent, would people suddenly stop overpricing, bribing, cheating, cutting corners and looking for connections?
@INDEED_T You've hit the nail on the head as always.. it's as a result of a structured behavior turned culture. If not aggressive tackled it passes from generation to generation
@Midatlblog Plastic and tin can be sold to recycling companies, as an individual you see that even your refuse can generate some form of income. When you do that, what you have to contend with is your dry general waste that lawma can pick up,hence why must also demand better services
@Midatlblog for example..at this day and age, refuse shouldn't be heaped together no matter what, even while waiting for lawma individuals should always sort their refuse into PLASTIC, TIN, And GENERAL WASTE. Structured bins should also be provided by the government to facilitate this
@Midatlblog Infrastructure gets a city clean.
Behavior keeps it clean.. while we demand better service from the government, the behavior of the people towards environmental responsibility determines if these places stay clean...The behavior sometimes has to be enforced
