@n0th0stl3tk0v3r I don't believe in these sort of absolutist claims. Prefer to give people a view of history and information about how things are made. IMO, declarations about how brand is "bad" fall into same simple-minded thinking as saying a brand is "good." Needs details and info.
After working on multiple LIVE service games, these are the reasons I was told mods must unfortunately be banned:
1. Exploits: Some mods can make an enemy easier to see (imagine all your foes are freakin glowing), or make you harder to see. You can destroy the game balance easily with visual mods.
2. Server Strain: Mods that aren't optimized can sometimes do some weird shit that can cause a strain to the server. Even if the mod is client side only, odd stuff can sometimes happen when the server is double checking things.
3. Gooners: As we've seen with nude Chun-Li appearing in a Street Fighter Tournament by accident - NSFW mods can damage a developers reputation or image if it's floating around the net.
4. Moderation: Deciding wtf gets banned and what is harmless is a goddamn full time job. It's a thankless task that will only lead to hypocrisy - or a dumb PR nightmare about "freedom of speech" vs racism.
5. Brand: The artistic vision and brand consistency is doomed to get diluted the longer you allow people to warp how your game is perceived.
6. Legal: Lots of mods infringe on copyrighted designs or assets. It's basically an ocean of litigation waiting to jump you the longer that stuff stays up.
7. Skin Marketplace: The most important reason is that skin sales drop if you have free mods as an option. Studios ain't about to let you mess with their income.
There's probably some other reasons but that's all I can remember right now.

In the 1950s, a few short years after the most powerful weapon in the history of humanity obliterated & maimed lives by the hundreds of thousands, a little boy was born in a rural Japanese town. He would spend his time exploring the countryside, going on wondrous adventures
once again noticing people giving loads of tactical advice (do this, stop doing that) to someone who likely needs reconceptualization work (typically requires some inquiry into one's history, memories, experiences, internal narrative)
@ioStux@TryMetafy I've gotten coaching from you a number of times, and I know how much he would benefit from it.
If you choose me I'll gift the session to him, because he doesn't have Twitter to enter himself.
@ioStux@TryMetafy I would not be receiving the coaching, my friend would.
He is in love with valorant, and has climbed to diamond 2 from silver 3 in the last 6 months. He calls himself 'hard stuck diamond', and has talked about wanting your coaching for a while, but he can't afford it.
