In partnership with @SafaricomFDN and @Ustadi_Fndtn, @LBDAgov is proud to host the Wezesha III Agri-Eco Hub Project at the Alupe Integrated Technology Transfer Centre–an initiative, that equip youths, women and special groups in Busia County and beyond, with 𝐩𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐚𝐠𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐬𝐤𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐬 on 𝐜𝐥𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐞-𝐬𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐟𝐚𝐫𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐩𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐬, and kitchen garden technologies that strengthen resilience, productivity, and incomes.
Beyond production techniques, the training offers real-world exposure to the challenges, opportunities, and market dynamics of agribusiness which are crucial in tackling 𝐟𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐞𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐚𝐝𝐝𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐣𝐨𝐛 𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐬 among 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡𝐬, 𝐰𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐩𝐬.

Today, Regional Development Authorities (RDAs) held a strategic engagement with Principal Secretary Caroline Karugu to provide updates on our programmes, achievements, and priorities aimed at accelerating regional development.
During the session, I highlighted the Lake Basin Development Authority’s (LBDA) progress in advancing aquaculture, agriculture, environmental conservation, and investment initiatives across the Lake Region. I also outlined our efforts in strengthening value chains, promoting climate resilience, enhancing partnerships, and mobilizing resources to drive sustainable socio-economic transformation.
LBDA remains committed to creating opportunities, improving livelihoods, and delivering impactful development interventions that contribute to inclusive growth and prosperity across our region.

For years, it's been a treacherous daylong trek for residents of Natukon village in search of water.
Not anymore! Today, I commissioned Ng'ilukea community water project to offer a lasting solution to acute water shortage in the area.
The solar-powered borehole will supply water to households and livestock as well as nearby schools and other social amenities.
My Ministry, through Kerio Valley Development Authority (KVDA) has sunk more boreholes in Kaloporor, Kootokapel and Nakirokony areas, including maintenance of Lomelo desalination plant, in Turkana East Constituency.
I also took the opportunity to challenge the Turkana community to rise above cultural beliefs and educate the girl child for a better life.
The comprehensive baseline added new (people-centric) data points that pushed policy to match the scope and urgency of the situation.
It gave birth to the proper intervention designed by @ENSDAKE who did a very commendable job & calculations that stopped the floods...11th yr now
Credit to the Impact Assessment @ENSDAKE team who were a huge contingent during the emergency.
Some outranked me 10x but saw what I was seeing & were humble enough to let me lead to more insights & admitting that.

Today Technoserve Leather & Essential Oil Program team visited ENSDA to explore areas of collaboration in the leather value chain. The visit aimed at exploring 4 broad area; Capacity building, Certification , Business processes review & linkage establishment in the leather space.
A technical multi-ministerial team with Italian Experts on Leather Value Chain Development Support Project visited ENSDA Tannery and Leather Factory today to evaluate leather value chain's potential. The visit is part of the Italian Corporation support towards Leather Industry.

The Government is committed to expanding irrigation schemes in ASAL areas as part of efforts to boost food security and support livelihoods of pastoralists.
Today, I chaired a high-level consultative meeting bringing together the Governors of the border counties of West Pokot and Turkana, Area Members of Parliament, alongside senior leadership from the Ministry of ASALs and Regional Development at Hazina Trade Centre, Nairobi.
The meeting deliberated on the plans to establish Lower Turkwell Irrigation Project whose objective is to address food insecurity and promote peace between the two neighbouring communities.
A series of community engagements will begin next week in the border areas of West Pokot and Turkana Counties to sensitize wananchi on various aspects of the project.
Present were Dr. Augustine Cheruiyot, Senior Advisor and Head of the Presidential Economic Transformation Secretariat in the Executive Office of the President of Kenya; Hon. John Munyes Kiyong'a, Special Envoy for Peace in the Ateker Region; Governors H.E Simon Kachapin (West Pokot), H.E Jeremiah Lomorukai (Turkana); ASALs and Principal Secretary Kello Harsama, County Commissioners David Ntawuasa Saruni (West Pokot), Julius Kavita (Turkana), MPs Hon. Dr. John Ariko Namoit (Turkana South), Hon. Dr. Protus Akujah (Loima), Hon. Titus Lotee (Kacheliba), Hon. Peter Lochakapong (Sigor), KVDA Chairman Mark Chesergon and other Ministry staff.
