thank you Coinbase x Stand With Crypto for the opportunity to visit Washington and share with Congress how blockchain technology has furthered my non-profit and is creating massive impact in urban agriculture
Just added ikonick.eth to my collection Incase @ikonick_xyz is interested in obtaining their #ENS let’s on board you to new money & sovereign identity.
the ethereum ecosystem needs a native protocol for ethereum accounts following each other
here's a look at the latest Ethereum Follow Protocol designs. you can follow the development of EFP at @ethfollowpr
The case for ENS growth
1. Web3 growth
- Ethereum and L2s will keep growing in users as scalability increases, dapps further develop and new use cases appear
- A percentage of these new users will want to use an ENS name to receive crypto at or to connect to dapps with instead of a long string on letters and numbers
- This percentage will likely increase since the closer we get to mass adoption the more the necessity increases for a simplified UX with human readable addresses
2. SIWE growth
- SIWE makes it possible for you to use your Ethereum wallet to sign into any web2 app that integrates SIWE, similarly to a Google or Apple account but without any intermediaries (note this is different from connect wallet which only connects you to on-chain services)
- SIWE integrations will likely grow with an increase in awareness, which is extremely minimal right now
- Most people using SIWE will need an ENS name as this will automatically become your username for every app you sign in to
- With a few large relevant integrations SIWE has the potential to catalyze ENS growth far beyond what normal growth of the Ethereum ecosystem can do
3. Growth other use cases
- ENS has multiple different use cases that are still very underutilized and have potential room for growth
- Subdomains: Now that the name wrapper is out, it is easier to either sell subdomains or let people mint them for free, as well as setting any other conditions. When companies start utilizing this more, it will attract a lot of new users to ENS.
- Decentralized websites: These are much more censorship resistant than traditional websites and will likely see an increase in users as more browsers integrate them
- Email address: Many different dapps have launched that provide wallet-to-wallet communication with ENS integration. The problem is that users are rather spread out over these services. When any of these dapps starts to dominate or if a popular existing web2 app ingrating ENS, growth can be seen here as well.
- Some other niche use cases, like using ENS names to unlock doors, have been developed as well but have not seen that much use so far. It shows, however, the endless possibilities of ENS, so who knows what new use cases might be developed in the future.
