Kevin earned 63 international caps and scored 21 goals between 1972 and 1982, before managing the #ThreeLions from 1999 to 2000.

Was für ein Spieler aus was für einer Zeit

Der HSV war deutscher Meister und Europapokalsieger, die Nationalmannschaft Europameister, in der ersten Elf durften nur zwei Ausländer spielen und auf den Rängen herrschte noch echte Stimmung, nicht – wie heute – dieses neunzigminütige Gesinge der ewig besoffenen Brüllorks („Ultras“).

Ich war damals, als kleiner Junge, oft beim HSV-Training und habe mir Autogramme meiner Lieblingsspieler geholt. Auch von Kevin. An irgendwelche Einzelheiten kann ich mich aber leider nicht mehr erinnern.

Kevin Keegan, einer der besten Spieler seiner Zeit, starb heute mit 75 Jahren an den Folgen einer Krebserkrankung.

A legend of the game, Keegan led Fulham to the Football League Second Division title in 1999.

He left Craven Cottage at the end of that season to focus on his duties as England manager.
