Today, we commence the Local Feedback Meetings under the @WatDev1 Project, scheduled to run from 5 to 6 December 2025 in Addis Ababa.
This two-day participatory engagement brings together farmers, youth, women’s groups, extension officers, and local community representatives to validate the feasibility results of Best Management Practices (BMPs) tailored for Ethiopia.
Supported by @ASARECA and WLRC, and informed by feasibility studies and modelling activities, these meetings give local actors a platform to:
🔹 Review and validate BMP feasibility at the community and basin level
🔹 Assess barriers, enablers, and sustainability conditions
🔹 Co-develop practical implementation protocols for farmers
🔹 Contribute to upcoming training modules
🔹 Share perceptions on local water management policies through field questionnaires
With fewer than 10 participants per group, the discussions remain interactive, inclusive, and rooted in local knowledge, ensuring that the final implementation guidelines reflect real-world needs and farmer-led insights. @EU_Commission, @g_ladisa, @MOSESODEKE, @BenIlakut, @blaiseamony.

#Day1 of the National Workshop on Advancing Climate-Smart Agriculture through Ethiopia’s LSC-Hub is in full swing at @ILRI, Addis Ababa.
Today’s sessions focus on the technical foundation of the LSC-Hub, including:
🎯Architectural design
🎯Data compilation
🎯System building
🎯Soil, land, crop mapping
🎯Soil functional mapping
🎯Capacity building for hub content management
Under #WorkPackage3, @ISRICorg is actively collaborating with Acatech Technology to co-design and co-develop the LSC-Hub, working closely with @MoA_Ethiopia and other key national partners.
A major milestone is the integration of the LSC-Hub with Ethiopia’s National Agricultural Data Hub, ensuring interoperability, governance alignment, and infrastructure readiness to support national-scale agricultural digitization.
The team also presents real-world use cases such as:
- Soil and Water Conservation (SWC)
- Integrated Soil Fertility Management (ISFM)
These use cases are being piloted in Basona Werana and Adami Tulu Jido Kombolcha districts, providing scalable models for future rollout across Ethiopia.

We’ve officially kicked off the National Workshop on Advancing Climate-Smart Agriculture through Ethiopia’s LSC-Hub @ProjectLSC!
Hosted at International Livestock Reasearch Institute @ILRI, Addis Ababa, this 5-day workshop brings together stakeholders from @MoA_Ethiopia, @ILRI, @InstituteEiar, @ASARECA, @ISRICorg, @WageningenUR, and @IUCN to jointly plan the integration, institutionalization, and sustainability of the Land, Soil and Crop Information Services Hub (LSC-Hub) into Ethiopia’s agricultural systems.
The LSC-Hub is a digital platform co-designed to support data-driven, climate-smart decision-making in agriculture through the collection, mapping, and analysis of critical soil, land, crop, and climate data.
This workshop serves as a key milestone to:
✅ Showcase technical progress on the Hub.
✅ Align integration with Ethiopia’s National AgData Hub.
✅ Define institutional and governance frameworks.
✅ Develop sustainable strategies for national and regional scaling.
The project Land, Soil and Crop Information Services (LSC-IS) to Support Climate-Smart Agriculture is funded by the European Union through the DeSIRA programme, the Netherlands’ Ministry of Foreign Affairs @DutchMFA, and with a contribution from ISRIC – World Soil Information @ISRICorg.
