東南アジアを中心に漁獲が行われている食用クラゲのひとつ。
特徴は傘の表面。ズームして見ると、けっこうザラザラしてるのがわかります。
インドネシアではUlbu kiburu (紙やすりクラゲ)とも呼ばれているそうで、実際に触ってみるとクラゲとは思えないほどのざらつき具合です。
