Archer takes shore leave on Andor, where Shran takes him on a death-defying hike up one of his planet's iciest mountains. When Archer develops hypothermia, Shran's plan to propose at the peak are diverted. Ever resilient, the two celebrate their engagement in Phlox's medbay.
After a security drill goes awry, Hayes and Reed stay up all night working on reports. Stressed and sleepless, an argument ensues that leads the two men to confess their feelings for one another. Shran brings an Andorian pet on board, but Porthos keeps trying to eat it.
shran eats mint toothpaste as a snack. archer had to switch to a different brand of toothpaste so that there wouldn't be any in the house because shran just couldn't resist it even though it always made his tummy hurt
Maj. Hayes finally takes a day off, and calls in all the favors he can to have the ultimate spa day. Meanwhile, Lt. Reed is stuck with twice the workload. Phlox obtains a crate of Linaerian greecrabs and bonds with Shran over this delicacy distasteful to human palettes.
Cadets in the final phase of officer training are brought aboard for a rigorous series of make-or-break tests. Trip and Hoshi collaborate to confuse and challenge the pompous young recruits. Archer tries to take one under his wing, but the young woman ends up outshining him.

Caught on an alien world in the midst of civil uprising, Trip finds himself a proletarian hero. Against Archer's orders, he teaches the locals about Earth's post-scarcity economy. T'pol and Hoshi decode an ancient Vulcan transmission. Reed takes it on himself to clean mess hall.

When his shuttle is caught in a meteor storm, Travis has to put on a spacesuit and fix it himself, with Trip's instructions regularly distorted by the shower. Hoshi takes on extra work to avoid calling her mom. Phlox challenges Reed to confront his biases about laws and justice.
Rationing energy during a dilithium shortage, lights are dimmed to 40% wherever possible. Phlox takes to painting in pigments only visible to his eyes, while T'pol finds herself unusually restless. Full of raktajino, Trip and Malcolm write a screenplay about an alien mafia.
When Voyager takes shore leave, Seven meets a woman and falls in love. Embarrassed by her emotions, she tries (and fails) to project cold, Borg detachment. Some time later, longing to see her again, Seven tampers with the ship’s navigational computer to reroute to her planet.
