Today I’m starting a 90-day build-in-public journey sharing what it’s like building Rentango Africa — a platform connecting travelers with short-term rental apartments across African cities.
Here’s why I started it 👇

@officialABAT, what more must Nigerians sacrifice before you hear their cries?
@seyimakinde, over 40 lives under your administration are currently in danger, yet your priority is celebrating victory in a gubernatorial election.
When are they coming home?
@officialABAT what should we sacrifice for you to hear the cries of innocent Nigerians?

If social media is part of the tools used in promoting your businesses and brands, your engagements with other social media posts should not be a scarce commodity.
Most property owners don’t have an income problem.
They have a strategy problem.
Still relying on traditional rent…
While others are earning per night.
The shift is already happening.
The question is:
Are you early or late?
DM “LIST” to get started with Rentango Africa.
Finding a short‑let in Lagos or Abuja shouldn’t feel like guesswork. Yet guests face unreliable listings and poor booking experiences, while property owners struggle with low visibility and inconsistent occupancy. @Rentangoafrica Africa is built to fix this.
Third, progress comes from consistent small steps, not big moments.
Still early, but the learning process has been one of the most valuable parts so far.
Building Rentango Africa has already taught me a few important things.
First, markets can be much bigger than they appear when you start looking closely.
One of the most interesting parts of building Rentango Africa is seeing early signals from the market.
As we onboard more listings and speak with hosts, it’s clear many are looking for better visibility and distribution.
Second, I would prioritise occupancy over price early on to build consistent bookings and momentum.
These are lessons that continue to shape how I think about the short-term rental market and how we’re building Rentango Africa.
If I were starting a short-let apartment business again, there are a few things I would do differently.
First, I would focus heavily on distribution from day one, not just the apartment itself.
Having a great property is not enough if people can’t find it.
