🔍 The MpoxVax AFRIVAC consortium aims to rapidly deploy technology and develop new knowledge to end the current #Mpox outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and surrounding countries.
🗣️Prof Patrick Mallon, Lead Coordinator of the consortium and Director of @CEPHR_UCD@UCDMedicine said: “As part of the MpoxVax trial at UCD CEPHR we have developed a new assay to measure immune responses to Mpox vaccination. MpoxVax AFRIVAC will enable us to transfer this novel technology to improve clinical research infrastructure and the conduct of vaccine trials in affected areas in Africa. The MpoxVax trial will directly contribute to international research that translates to enhanced responses to global health threats.”

Efficiency cannot be measured by volume alone. Patients becoming more complex but the tools we have are from the 1980s. No EHR and no electronic prescribing in almost every hospital. Disconnected lab systems with no single patient identification number. Glacial progress on IT.

⚠️ 5 cases of mpox notified in gbMSM in Ireland, mostly unvaxxed.
As cases persist globally, potential for outbreaks in our community remains.
Even though cases are low - getting fully vaxxed remains very important!
