@QuotidianWriter That is to say, that writing relationships, both romantically as well as inter-personal ones, if done terribly, can really destroy the entirety of the story, no matter how good the plot is. If done right, though, it can really elevate your story to another level.

@QuotidianWriter I'm reading a book by an author from the 80's/90's who basically threw in romance as what seems to be an experiment of pacing, ellipses, and a downbeat before heading towards the climax of the story. It was so frustratingly awkward to read that I almost just put the book down.

@KMWeiland Yeah...between daily watering, weeding, and all of the setup and continued maintenance...it is a full-on separate job to maintain anything other than a house plant.

@Janice_Hardy Even in a bookstore, I never bought a book unless I was able to read the first few pages. So I would say that, for me, nothing has changed with e-readers...other than I am more likely to read more of the beginning of a book, than I would normally with a physical copy.

@KMWeiland How they receive and give criticism. Being able to explain reasons for why something in a piece doesn't work, as well as not taking personally any criticism that is received are really important.

@KMWeiland All of us are pretty different from each other. Some are pantsers that like to outline a little. Others are outliners that like to pants in between bullet points and others don't really adhere to either side with any consistency.
