@Car_Abrahams at @age_uk event with @thefabians making the point that fixing Corridor Care and A&E waits is possible - some hospitals are doing much better and not having it. The Gov must move quickly for older people. But also if they don't Labour will struggle at the election.
Sue whose husband had stomach cancer explains the horrible experience of Corridor Care and how she felt they were treated like a number not named people. Her husband had to lie on the floor in a room of 20 because he was too uncomfortable to sit in the chair her was given.
Fantastic to have @age_uk and @thefabians event on Corridor Care with @Car_Abrahams and Minister @karinsmyth to discuss how we can end Corridor Care and long waits in A and E
@Car_Abrahams raising the issue that the Government are having to tackle an already very seriously struggling NHS. But that they must be more ambitious in their plan so Corridor Care can be fixed now not in a few years.

NEW: Analysis from @jrf_uk ahead of the Chancellor's spring statement this week shows families worse off by £1400 by 2030.
This would mean missing the PM’s living standards milestone and could be the first govt since 1955 to see a fall in living standards across a parliament.
Disabled Britons overwhelmingly believe the majority of those receiving disability benefits need this support (86%), a view shared by Britons as a whole with 77% of them saying they believe this is the case.
The Government today set out its proposed reforms to the benefits system. We are very concerned that its proposals could hit carers, disabled people, and their families very hard, if implemented in full.

@Helen_M_Walker
i want to break down some disability stats because i see a lot of people balking at the idea that there are 16 million disabled people in the UK (only 3.6 million of those on PIP, and only 37% of those claimants on the highest amount of £737 a month)
let’s have a 🧵 shall we?
The government is right to try to 'de-risk' work for people on incapacity benefits, through the kind of 'right to try' they are trailing today
Taken along with the plans to improve employment support announced last year, it could have formed a transformative agenda
