Tokunbo Wahab @tokunbo_wahab got me the UN invite to COP30 in Belรฉm, Brazil
Last year, I told one of my SSA friends in Lagos that I would love to attend COP30 in Belรฉm, Brazil. He assured me he would make it happen.
Two days later, while we were coronating the Olubadan, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, I received a video call from him. At the other end was none other than Tokunbo Wahab.
I immediately said, โOga mi Sir.โ
His response was simple: โSend your data page, we will try and push it so you can be one of the countryโs delegates.โ
I was genuinely happy. I called my SSA friend back and said, โMa luwe loโ, our usual slang meaning โcontinue swimming.โ
A week later, TW linked me up with one of his assistants and, as they say, the rest is history. I got officially invited by the United Nations Climate Change Conference Committee, and the invitation letter was eventually used for my Brazil visa.
I was honestly surprised by such kindness from someone I had not even interacted much with personally.
After securing the visa and invitation letter, I spoke with my principal and AO, and they graciously sorted out my flight, accommodation, and even โlivelyโ money.
Today is Tokunbo Wahabโs birthday, and I am deeply grateful for the kindness and support he showed me. May Almighty God continue to bless and elevate him, Sir.
And shoutout to Wale Ajetunmobi โ na man you be.
