Do you screen your patients? Do you teach your patients about safe gun storage? Do you ask fellow parents when your kids go on play dates if they gave guns and if so how they store them?
As physicians and the healthcare industry we spend so much time trying to treat disease but the leading cause of childhood death in the US are firearms. #endfirearmviolenceepidemic#IHIForum https://t.co/ushHlRplAO
Spent the morning in one of my happy places - in exam rooms with my patients. So much opportunity in healthcare to make it easier for doctors (and other health care providers) to do what they went into the profession to do & provide patients what they deserve at the same time.
One of the most powerful and undervalued leading indicators in healthcare: trust. Takes time and good experiences to gain, can be lost quickly & without it you don’t stand a chance of being give the honor and privilege of supporting another human being in their health journey.
My two youngest kiddos got their second dose of #moderna 💉 💉 today and I feel like I can breath deeper. So grateful for #science. For #healthcare workers. We can do and need to do better but today grateful for #progress.
End of an era. I learned more about talent management and recruitment from @DrJoelKatz than anyone else in healthcare. He has been an iconic internal medicine program director because he built a program that stands for head, heart, and ambition to change medicine and the world.
@chrissyfarr Highly recommend as catchy and less painful alternatives: The Skunk and the Robot by Rat Boy Jr, Tiny Dinosaurs by Lunch Money & What did the Fox Say by Ylvis

Well said @Farzad_MD - much (although not all) of the EHR functionality simply replaces paper charts in a 1:1 fashion - patient registries, however, enable targeted proactive outreach are net new and one of our most powerful tools!
You can serve an individual quite well [with paper records]; you can deliver excellent customer service if you wait for someone to walk through the door and then you go and pull their chart.
What you can't do with paper charts is ask the question, 'Who didn't walk in the door?'
@DrNwando So excited to have you join the team! I have come to love rocking the amazing @Humana green masks and it’s pride but agree polos might be a bridge too far ;)
Female participation in the workforce hit a 33 year low - and yet we are at an all time high learning how effective teams can be in remote and flexible ways of woking. We need macro and micro change to re-level the playing field - what else can you be doing to support your team?
