Had an enriching industry engagement in Agra with leaders from the leather & footwear, AYUSH, pharma, medical devices, light engineering & sports goods sectors, joined by my friend Mr. @ToddMcClayMP, Minister for Trade & Investment, New Zealand.
Also, launched the 'Agra: World Capital of Footwear' brand campaign, celebrating the skills of our artisans & women entrepreneurs, and positioning Agra as a global sourcing destination, employment engine, and export powerhouse.
The #IndiaNZFTA marks a defining milestone, unlocking new opportunities for our farmers, women, artisans, MSMEs, businesses & skilled professionals.
Mr. Todd McClay reaffirmed that India is a strategic priority for New Zealand and urged businesses to actively pursue joint ventures & investment in India.
In line with PM @NarendraModi ji's vision, this Agreement is a gateway to a deeper, more enduring and people-centred partnership between our two nations. 🇮🇳🤝🇳🇿
#WATCH | The Export Promotion Council of Medical Devices thanks the Government of India, especially the Finance and Commerce Ministries, for exempting customs duty on critical petrochemical products till June. This move eases inflationary pressure, stabilizes supply chains, and addresses rising raw material costs, ensuring availability of essential materials for medical devices, pharmaceuticals, and packaging. The Council also urges temporary GST relief, proposing a reduction on inputs from 18% to 15% to correct the inverted tax structure and boost global competitiveness. It remains committed to #AtmanirbharBharat and strengthening India’s healthcare manufacturing ecosystem: R S Kanwar, Chairman, Export Promotion Council for Medical Devices (EPCMD-India)

With medical device exports crossing USD 4 billion in FY25, the discussions focused on enhancing global competitiveness and achieving the USD 30 billion market size target by 2030.
