I joined the Chief Justice, the Justices of the Superior Courts, and other distinguished guests to commemorate 150 years of organised judicial administration in Ghana. The Supreme Court and the wider judiciary have played a central role in upholding the rule of law and maintaining the stability of our nation. Government therefore considers strengthening the justice sector an essential investment in Ghana’s national development.

In my remarks, I also acknowledged the work of the Constitution Review Committee, which conducted extensive consultations nationwide. I commended the Committee for the intellectual effort and patriotic service it invested in this important national assignment.

Constitutional review allows the nation to reflect on whether its institutions remain capable of responding to the needs of an evolving society. Government is carefully considering the Committee’s recommendations and will issue a Position Paper setting out its considered position.

I also highlighted the passage of the Legal Education Act as an important step towards strengthening legal education and professional training. The Act offers an opportunity to prepare future lawyers for an increasingly complex, technological, and interconnected legal environment.

As we celebrate 150 years of the Supreme Court, Government reaffirms its commitment to preserving the independence of the judiciary, strengthening the administration of justice, and upholding the rule of law within the framework of our Constitution. I congratulate the Chief Justice, the Justices of the Superior Courts, the Judicial Service, the Ghana Bar Association, past and present judicial officers, and every member of staff whose dedication has contributed to the growth and endurance of this important national institution.
