We can’t wait for our visit from #joshsilver tomorrow! Students have been devouring HappyHead and it will be great to talk all things dystopian fiction and learn more from Josh about how writing can benefit young people’s mental well-being @OneworldNews@RocktheBoatNews
"The best way to travel is by book, you can go anywhere you like" - Benjamin Zephaniah
We've lost one of poetry's greats today. Zephaniah's writing helped many make sense of themselves and the world around them. Here's a video from our #MyBirminghamStory project back in 2021 ⬇️.
It’s #NationalTreeWeek this week so we made our annual book tree and welcomed the lovely Megan and Alfie from @TreesforCities in to talk to students and staff about our very, very exciting collaboration with them! Watch this space 🌳 🪴 🏫
Introducing Noa, this year's Jack Petchey winner whose kindness and care for others won him the award! We're proud of you Noa, keep up the amazing work.

@maamw@itvnews Thanks for visiting! Saw your heartbreaking, beautiful film at the weekend. What an incredible cast including the mesmerising @MiaMBruce. I hope it gets shown and seen in schools and colleges all over and gets people talking🤞
What a great morning celebrating the launch of Ealing Teen Read 2024. A brilliant talk by @SueWallman with lots of great questions from the students. Thank you Sue! And a big thank-you to @WilliamPerkin for being such great hosts. @EalingCouncil@EalingLibs
Great to meet @suewallman today! Her thrillers are among our most popular in school and it was great to hear about how she has used her own experiences and developed them into stories. Write what you know was great advice.
Students in Year 8 and 9 were treated to an inspiring talk by YA author @suewallman at the launch of the Ealing Teen Read today. Thanks to Sue, @hounslowSLS and @WilliamPerkin for putting on a really great event.
It’s #NationalPoetryDay2023 and here are some of our budding bards crafting their own works at the @nhehs Poetry Conference. They also loved listening to @hannahlowepoet recite sonnets from her collection The Kids and soaked up her words of encouragement and wisdom too.
We finally got all our Summer Reading Project winners together this week. Well done to all of them! We loved seeing all your wonderful illustrations, reviews and fact files and celebrating with your proud Head of Year Mr Bardsley #readingatelthorne#readingforpleasure
Such an enriching morning of creativity, imagination and sharing of ideas at the @nhehs GCSE Poetry Conference. Thanks for welcoming and hosting our @ElthorneHighSch students today
We had another action packed Open Evening here at Elthorne. Students and parents got to experience virtual reality, escape rooms, banana pancakes, robots and so much more! We can't wait to meet our new Elthorne students again next year.
We are excited to open our doors wide to welcome future students to @ElthorneHighSch on Weds evening. We’ve got an escape room, a murder to solve and lots of outstanding student librarians for you to meet and quiz about the school and their experience of it. Come and say hello 👋

As we start the new school year, it’s always fun getting to know what students love to read. Whatever it is, we hope we can help them find it and develop their own reading palate #readingatelthorne 📚😊
Love love love this! Such a fantastic, original, heart-wrenching story about the value of friendship and looking out for one another. So deserving of this prize and all the accolades. Read it! 📚👏
