@Wallabyjlw I remember my school librarian from the 1980's. I see the relationship that librarians have with the kids now (in schools that are lucky enough to still have one). It's so important.
@bannon1975 Librarians can talk to kids about books like no-one else can.
And then those kids learn to trust their librarian’s judgment.
And that’s why being a school librarian is the best job in the world.
On the day the World Cup kicks off I am doing a free event for schools with @uksla. To promote reading for pleasure through football. It is free and open to all.

My latest article for Educate magazine explores the importance of getting the transition in reading from KS2 to KS3 right, and how children's reading identities evolve as they move through education. A huge thank you to Amy Brookes for sharing her insights as a school librarian.
I enjoy reading children's books & choose to do so. Not all school staff have the time or want to but they need to know about them. A couple of staff meetings each year giving time to explore picturebooks, poetry & graphic novels could make a world of difference in the classroom.
