@MarshallTitan1@EquitableEd I don’t disagree but also know that with limited funds you have to prioritise for greatest impact in this case which one saves the most lives.
1.1 million black men in UK
33 million men in UK full screening program would be massively expensive.
Literally this group is three times more likely to get prostrate cancer than other groups…early diagnosis will save lives and money. It absolutely makes sense. However when has sense ever got in the way of generating a bit of rage.
On the day the whole political establishment claims we do not live in a two tier country, they announce this.
Note, the NHS makes NO drugs available exclusively to white people.
@NatureIsaTERF No it isn’t this was about a group of British citizens having preventative measures to reduce burden on the health service due to their increased risk.
@BarryNSmith79@greeborunner@Glazgow@GeogMonkey@AnnielizzieSten Maybe meaning , purpose, connection, growth. Pleasure and pain are signals, not goals. What we’re really after is a life that feels worth it, even when it’s hard.
Being human is so much more than your basic signals.
@Suchmo83 Not purposefully absolutely not. Just sometimes and I count myself in this in our will to get our ideas out we forget the context in how it may be viewed.
This is what Barry thinks of most teachers teaching. My experience is the opposite, I see people who work really hard to get it right for the children in their class, they are bothered and have professional pride.
@AnnielizzieSten@smithsmm I think this is unusual. In my experience: car parks largely empty at 7.45; largely empty 4pm; little evidence of regular marking/careful planning undertaken at home.
This attitude and smug arrogance towards people who truly do some of the hardest work in our society sums up a lot of the issues we have. Care work is absolutely vital, it’s needed for many of our most vulnerable. People I know who work in care are skilled, committed and bothered
@greg_ashman Do you really think care work doesn’t require a set of skills and knowledge to do? Do you think a diet academic subjects give people that set of skills? It’s a really badly paid but utterly vital service. Having worked briefly in the sector, I know it’s a job I couldn’t do.
