8 of the 11 U.S. @FIFAcom World Cup 2026 host venues face severe water stress.
As millions of fans prepare to watch the world’s biggest sporting event, many host cities are grappling with a growing challenge off the field: water scarcity.
From prolonged droughts to increasing demand and aging infrastructure, water stress is becoming a defining issue for cities around the world. The good news? Innovative solutions like onsite water recycling can help communities reduce pressure on local water supplies while building long-term resilience.
In our latest blog, we take a closer look at the host cities facing water challenges and what they can teach us about the future of water management: https://t.co/MAC0oGDiYZ
San Diego's water story is changing.
After decades of investment in water reuse, desalination, and storage, the region now has enough water supply to sell water beyond its borders.
But more water doesn't automatically mean lower costs. Utilities still need to fund major infrastructure investments, and ratepayers are seeing the impact. Sewer rates alone are projected to increase 62% over the next three years.
For building owners, that creates a clear opportunity. Onsite water recycling reduces both water demand and sewer discharge, helping lower utility costs while improving resilience.

🏆 Epic Cleantec is honored to be named an @Inc Best Workplace for the third consecutive year, a recognition that reflects the incredible people behind everything we do.
To celebrate, we asked employees one simple question: how would you describe the Epic Cleantec team in one word? 💬
Last week, the Epic team made a splash at the 25th Annual California Green Building Conference hosted by @USGBCCalifornia!
A few highlights from the day:
🔹 Our Co-Founder and CEO, Aaron Tartakovsky, joined an incredible water innovation panel alongside industry leaders Newsha Ajami, Kristen DiStefano, and Peter Fiske
🔹 Connected with attendees at the Epic booth to talk about the future of onsite water reuse
🔹 Attended the Civic Leadership & Product Awards ceremony celebrating sustainability leadership across California. We were honored to receive the Ripple Effect Award for our recycled water beer!
A special thank you to USGBC-CA for bringing together such an inspiring community driving sustainable change across the built environment.
🏆 We’re honored to have received the 2026 Ripple Effect Award from @USGBCCalifornia at this year’s California Green Building Conference!
This product award honors innovation driving sustainable water management and our recycled water beers, Shower Hour IPA and Laundry Club Kölsch, were recognized for helping reshape public perception around water reuse. 🍻
As Ben Stapleton, CEO of USGBC California, shared:
“By normalizing recycled water through everyday experiences, these beers catalyze cultural change essential to scaling water solutions.”

Water and sewer rates are projected to rise by as much as 115% over the next decade in major U.S. cities, rising faster than general inflation. 💧
Cities are implementing aggressive multi-year utility rate increases as aging infrastructure, climate pressures, and funding gaps strain municipal systems. And unlike many other operating costs, water and sewer charges aren’t negotiable.
Our newest blog breaks down:
🔹 Why utility rates are surging
🔹 How rising rates can impact building asset value
🔹 Why onsite water reuse is becoming a financial hedge
🔹 A case study showing the impact of installing a reuse system

What does it take to make onsite water recycling the norm, not the exception?
That's the question the Epic team unpacked last week at our annual retreat in Sonoma. We spent time with our investors and board members mapping where the industry is headed, then stepped back to align on how Epic keeps pushing the water reuse movement forward.
The way buildings use water is changing, and the systems we design today will shape how cities respond to scarcity, growth, and resilience in the decades ahead.
In between strategy sessions, there were shared meals, inspiring views, and plenty of laughs.
The work ahead is ambitious. But so is this group.
💬 Alana Kobayashi Pakkala, CEO & Partner at Kobayashi Group, LLC, shared why they are embracing onsite water reuse.
At Kuilei Place, our OneWater™ reuse system will recycle up to 30,000 gallons of greywater daily, saving nearly 11 million gallons of potable water and an estimated $161,000 in utility costs each year.
From cost savings to conservation, this is what smarter water infrastructure looks like. 💧
👏 We’re excited to celebrate an April work anniversary at Epic Cleantec! Please join us in congratulating Felipe Cartin Munoz on two years with the team.
