Hopefully Southgate stays. Built a club mentality and a system which outperformed arguably the best team in the world. The big moments just aren’t quite going England’s way and that’s on the players. With the quality and age of this squad I’m certain our time will come.

Very strange that Scaloni is playing Otamendi and Romero ahead of Martinez in a game of such importance. Not many better CB’s in world football at the minute. Will end up costing Argentina if they go further into the tournament.

I just don’t see why in games like this Southgate doesn’t go with 2 number 8’s that are comfortable in advanced areas. Surely having Maddison in there or moving Foden into RCM alongside Bellingham would be more fruitful. It’s not like we’re reliant on Henderson off the ball.

How is Jordan Henderson starting for England. Leadership qualities aside, he offers nothing in a midfield that can’t be provided by the other options. His decline out of possession is exponential, weak in duels, slow to second balls and ill disciplined when tracking runners.

Belgium by far the worst “big” nation in this WC. Golden generation has been wasted and it makes you wonder why they’ve stuck with Roberto Martinez throughout. Has never really proven himself in management before, particularly with big stars,are we seeing the same with Southgate?

That is such a negative performance. Sat on the edge of our 18 yard box, not squeezing out, only Hendo initiating a press once he came on to try and get the team up the pitch. No sustained pressure in USA half. Maguire MOTM, excellent performance and a system that suits him.

Foden and Grealish for Mount and Sterling. Need players comfortable to pick up the ball between the lines to break down this USA side. Can’t even progress the ball past their front 3 atm.

@TarikMal14 Not sure why our defensive line is so deep either. Distances between our defence to our forwards is too large. Means we can’t sustain any pressure on them. Not had any long periods with the ball in their half.

Fancy Germany to go pretty far. That’s a brilliant pairing at the back with Rudiger and Scholtterbeck. Top manager as well. Would be surprised if they don’t top the group over Spain.
