Students in English 1 debriefed class by adjusting their progress on their informational writing flowchart. Cool way for kids to track their own progress and see the steps needed to be successful. @GHS_Indians @epmfarmer
You know your an English teacher at Yallfest when you’re sitting in panels thinking, “Man... I can’t wait to tell *insert student name* about this,” or “Wow... my kids would love this!” #yallfest2019
@katey_bailey I’m so excited to put these flowcharts to use with our English One students tomorrow. This idea is going to be a great way for our students to practice progress monitoring... and will help us keep them on track!
Yesterday’s Narrative Celebration was a success! It was so nice to be able to observe my students as they interacted with and celebrated the writing of others! After writing celebrations and giving sticker awards, we finished with a circle up debrief to share our thoughts.
I’m super excited to try out @katey_bailey ‘s idea and have a narrative celebration with my 4th Block tomorrow to celebrate their Memiors! The writer’s requested baked goods... so they get baked goods. Check back for updates tomorrow!
English One (4th Block) didn’t let the rain stop them from writing six word memoirs today! When the sidewalk is wet, we use black chart paper and chalk instead!
Since today marked the official end of quarter one, English One had a Reading Celebration! Hot cocoa and marshmallows, popcorn and other snacks, and reading by the “fire.” The students loved it!
Discussion @ reading in Mrs Farmer’s Engl I class. Q was would you rather read a text msg or a book? S responds “a text is like a drop of paint on a canvas, but a book is seeing the whole portrait.” @CommonsLex1 @GHS_Indians
English One is using Disney songs like “I’ll Make a Man Out of You” to find poetic devices like simile, metaphor, personification, and imagery before analyzing poems and writing their own. I caught a few singing along... and encouraged them to do so! #disneyfans
“Teacher Tired” on this Thursday evening, but it’s time to lesson plan and watch the Tigers play! 🎉 The Tiger Rag counts as poetry, right? #GoTigers#Clemson
@GHS_Indians creating personalized writer’s notebooks in English I to capture their growth as writers this year! I can’t wait to see the work that they create! #OneTribeUnified@epmfarmer
I was trying to decide on my colors for my classroom when this pillow at Walmart caught my eye! I’m ready to see all of my hard work come together this week so that I can welcome my students next week! #TheLex1Difference
It’s still a little bare bones at the moment, but here are some pictures of my classroom! I got it the way that I wanted it set up today. Now it’s time to decorate! 😊 #TheLex1Difference
