Today we celebrate 50 years as a Republic, our Golden Jubilee! It is a milestone that honours our journey, our people, our resilience, and the nation we continue to build together.
As we mark this significant occasion, let us remember that the power of our nation rests in its people. Let us recommit ourselves to building a harmonious society where every creed and race finds an equal place.
Happy 50th Republic Day, Trinidad and Tobago!
Literacy is the foundation for learning. It shapes how we understand, communicate and engage with the world around us.
International Literacy Day is observed this year under the theme “Literacy for People, the Planet, and Prosperity,” highlighting the role of foundational learning in human development, sustainable progress and stronger communities.
Recognising the importance of literacy, the East Port of Spain Development Company Limited (EPOS) partnered with the Adult Literacy Tutors Association (ALTA) to implement the ALTA Online literacy programme in some of our schools, providing support to students who need that extra attention.
Through this intervention, students have strengthened their reading, writing and numeracy skills while improving their confidence and participation in the classroom.
We remain committed to supporting our young people to reach their full potential in the classroom and beyond!
Happy International Literacy Day!
Welcome back to school!
As the new academic year begins, we encourage every student to stay focused, believe in your potential, and make the most of every opportunity to learn.
We wish all students, educators, and parents a successful and rewarding school year ahead.
Today, the East Port of Spain Development Company Limited joins the nation in celebrating the 64th anniversary of our Independence.

We remain committed to supporting the continued development of our communities and our country.
Happy Independence Day, Trinidad and Tobago!
As Steelpan Month 2026 draws to a close, we highlight the role music plays in helping young people discover opportunities beyond the classroom. It opens doors to performance, healthy competition, and cultural expression.
Through the Pan in Schools Programme, the East Port of Spain Development Company Limited (EPOS) supported steelpan education as a creative outlet for students to develop their talents while building confidence, discipline and teamwork.
In East Port of Spain, the birthplace of the steelpan, nurturing the next generation of pannists is also about preserving a rich cultural legacy and keeping our national instrument alive.
Happy Steelpan Month!
As we celebrate Steelpan Month 2026, the East Port of Spain Development Company Limited (EPOS) shines a light on panyards. These are spaces where musical talent is nurtured, culture is preserved, and communities come together.
Through the EPOS Panyard Upgrade (PAN-UP) Programme, steelbands across East Port of Spain received improvements that created safer, more functional spaces for practice, learning, and community engagement.
Every upgraded panyard is an investment in our national instrument, in young people seeking positive outlets, and in the generations who will carry the culture forward.
Happy Steelpan Month!
On International Youth Day, we are reminded that investing in young people means investing in the future of our communities.
This year’s theme, “Different Contexts, Common Aspirations,” acknowledges that young people across the world come from varying economic backgrounds, face different realities, and have different hurdles to overcome. Yet, despite these differences, they share a common hope to achieve their dreams and build better futures.
The programmes, partnerships, spaces and opportunities created through the East Port of Spain Development Company Limited (EPOS) have helped numerous young people discover their potential, develop their talents and skills, build confidence, and see possibilities beyond their circumstances.
This International Youth Day, we celebrate the resilience of our youth and reaffirm our commitment to supporting them along their journeys.
East Port of Spain holds a special place in the story of the steelpan. From humble beginnings, a melodic instrument was birthed in the community of Laventille, evolving into a symbol of our culture and a gift from Trinidad and Tobago to the world.
The East Port of Spain Development Company Limited (EPOS) continues to support our national instrument and nurture the talent of those who carry its legacy forward.
From our Panyard Upgrade Programme, which provides spaces for young musicians to develop their talents and find mentorship; to our Pan in Schools Programme, which helps keep the culture of steelpan alive among the next generation; and our Panyard Crawl events, which invite people from across the country to experience the vibrant culture and music of some of the leading steel orchestras across East Port of Spain, we are proud to play our part in keeping the culture of the steelpan alive in the community of its birth.
Today, on World Steelpan Day, we honour the pioneers of the steelpan; the musicians whose talent continues to inspire; and the individuals and organisations contributing to the growth, development and advancement of our national instrument.
Happy World Steelpan Day!
Today, on African Emancipation Day, we honour the courage, sacrifice and resilience of those who fought for freedom and paved the way for future generations.

Happy African Emancipation Day from the Management and Staff of the East Port of Spain Development Company Limited.
