The Liiga Season has hardly started and there is already drama between the two Helsinki teams 😂
HIFK's four main Fan Clubs (Stadin Kingit, Inferno, HIFK Fan Club, and Folket 1897) issued a joint statement Thursday announcing they'll boycott every Jokerit-hosted Helsinki derby (It's a game between Helsinki's two big hockey clubs, HIFK and Jokerit, Has not happened since 2014) next season and are urging all HIFK fans to do the same.
The reason is Jokerit's return to Liiga next season after a 12-year absence, which means the derby will happen again in Liiga. The main anger from the HIFK Fan Clubs.
First, the away allocation: Jokerit offered HIFK supporters only 200 tickets (stretchable to a maximum of 350) at the 13,349-capacity Veikkaus Arena, while the groups say a larger out-of-town supporter group was offered a 1,100-ticket quota. They argue that makes it impossible for IFK fans to form a single unified, active standing section. In European Hockey it is very common have fan cheering sections put on by the Fan Clubs.
Second, the price: a 75-euro away ticket, which they call excessive. The statement accuses Jokerit of turning the derby into a cash machine, calling it "disgusting."
The groups added that if HIFK adopts similar pricing for its own home derbies, they'll protest and boycott those too.
The season's first Helsinki derby is set for Veikkaus Arena on Oct. 8.

@gjspittle It had to happen, if you say publicly you are gonna match any offer be prepared for someone to call your bluff. Also I don’t think they would find another Leo with the first round picks Philly was offering.
The International Olympic Committee lifted the Russian Olympic Committee's suspension on July 7. The IIHF and the NHL will likely follow.
So often in International sports there is so much more than just the sport. There is a load of politics that come with these choices.
In this article I want to breakdown what this means going forward with International Sports. This is definitely a topic that should be discussed, but with my space I want to bring light to some of the Russian prospects who have not had a chance to show out to scouts and Hockey fans because of the choices of their nation.

Friedman about Carlsson Offer Sheet : ... they went back to the Ducks before signing the offer sheet and asked for $15m and Verbeek said no.
