A big thank you to everyone who has donated so far to help us redistribute funds to those in our community who are needing support.
So far, our community has provided mutual aid to 48 students, which is fantastic, but only serves 19% of the need identified by Waterloo students.
Still waiting on your funds? We haven't forgotten about you! We're sending fund out as they arrive, but if you have questions or concerns please DM us or reach out at [email protected].
There's still time to register for our virtual teach-in tomorrow, if you have not done so already!
We look forward to hosting some great conversations.
The event is free, but donations to our Mutual Aid Fund are highly encouraged to continue supporting students in our community.
Equity4Who will be hosting its 2nd virtual teach-in, "Intersections of Harm: Sexual Violence and the State". Join us Thurs. May 6, as we discuss the impacts that state mechanisms have in enabling sexual violence both on campus and beyond.

Our final speaker at our teach-in is Kate Crozier, from the Community Justice Initiatives of Waterloo Region. She has seen firsthand how many who are socially unsupported (from the house-less to those who are sexually abused) end up criminalized by the state as a result.

Our next speaker at our teach-in is Jessica Hutchison, from ReAllocate Waterloo Region. Exploring and investing in alternatives to various state mechanisms are just one step on the way to eliminating violence in communities overall.
We asked the @RegionWaterloo@Redman4Region leaders of our community to reallocate police funding to BIPOC communities. Instead, they funded performativity of “diversity cruisers” and the racism of “trading cards”. @Chief_BLarkin & @WRPSToday https://t.co/hSghjYRBWF

If you are a Waterloo Alumni, I highly recommend donating to @equity4who. They're helping our students in ways that the University continuously and intentionally overlooks: https://t.co/b6VwzOCrGV
