EXTENDing tPa to 4.5 - 9.0hrs? (https://t.co/3V88mIRWuo)
This is another example of a small study, stopped early, with frank manipulation of data to help promote one thing…more money in the pockets of the company making the medication. Ridiculous that @NEJM would publish this
Had a great time at #EMU2019. Thanks for having me. I learned about buprenorphine and a bad thing called alternans on EKG and blowing up a balloon in the esophagus to stop massive bleeding and honestly this is insane what even is your job
Behind every “difficult family / patient” are:
- Social determinants of health
- Life experiences
- Culutural / religious beliefs
- Organic causes leading to “non-compliance”
Let’s open our minds/hearts, ditch this judgement, work WITH our patients!
Let’s do better.

Transplant Pearls by Caleb Chan
Cardiac transplant patients have funky hearts!
They do NOT respond to atropine – use epi or pacing if too bradycardic
Their resting heart rate is often b/w 90-110
They are hypersensitive to adenosine – use a mere 3 mg for SVT!

You had a few things on your mind this year, #EMRAFamily – and with the launch of a new website, you discovered that EM Resident is the gift that keeps on giving. It's New Year's Eve which means it's time for our most-read stories of 2018.
@marlindrome In one of the hospitals I rotated, the ER didn't have a bed 13. They had 12, 12A, and 14. It's 2018, we have a spacecraft rotating an asteroid so that it can collect samples and bring it to earth, but hospitals are avoiding the number 13.
