@PastorMikeStone@BaptistLeaders Interesting that a church in Atlanta would say that removing a "gay-affirming church" could hinder church planting in the NW. I was the Exec. Director of the NWBC at the time and we would never have participated in starting such a church, nor did we have any such church.
Prestigious doctor leaves a crowded room stunned after asking pro-abortion politicians:
"If abortion is healthcare, my question is: what disease are you treating?"
NEXT WEEK: glad to help Island Church (FL) consider @willmcraney’s evidence on NAMB, Lord willing.
Sorry to hear @NAMB_SBC told courts this MUST go to the church but now refuses Christian arbitration at every SBC church — saying courts have “exhausted” church powers!
No one tried to assassinate Barack Obama. No one tried to assassinate Joe Biden. No one tried to assassinate Kamala Harris.
But President Trump has now survived three serious assassination attempts.
This is not both sides issue.
@CarsonWeitnauer The "trans issue" isn't simply one issue, it's a litmus test. Those who support mutilation of children, calling it "gender affirming," and support men in women's spaces, reveal the kind of twisted thinking that makes everything else about their thinking and values highly suspect.
@DJJenkins This is why I proposed remote access participation and voting in 2020 and 2021. It could be set up in associations or state conventions. We piloted it in the Northwest, in part, to prove it could be done, and we did it successfully.
@WillyRice The 2024-2025 CP number will drop significantly from 2023-2024. Probably a reduction of $12 million or more, based on the SBC CP dropping about $5 million.
This is marketing not journalism. The only perspective in the article is that of NAMB's attorneys. Believe me, other Baptist attorneys, including First Amendment scholars, see this very differently @jrwhitehead
@bartbarber@Dr_Al_Pihringer You're correct that conventions and churches are autonomous in the ways you mention, mission strategy and doctrine. But that's not the point. The point is that now slander, defamation, and even interference with current or future employment can be done with no legal recourse.
@megbasham Very well said, Megan. God bless you as you serve Him and deal with a serious health issue. I feel the same about Erika Kirk, a young woman seeking to do her best following an unspeakable tragedy and wicked act against her husband and family.
@jrwhitehead Arguing that Southern Baptists in separate, autonomous organizations who cooperate to do missions have the right to lie about one another, and destroy reputations, with no legal recourse, is disastrous. It will destroy cooperation.
"The SBC currently faces two lawsuits that could reshape how the Convention and local churches relate under the law. Paradoxically, the best outcome for Southern Baptist churches is for their leaders to lose.
Why? Because if our entities get what they’re asking for, SBC leaders will win the legal protection to say false things about local church ministers with impunity."
Read this dire warning from @jrwhitehead about what's at stake in the McCraney and Garner cases.
