The rent, staffing costs, council tax, energy bills, travel, complimentary tickets, payments from lobbyists and private interest groups etc etc. Who is cheating who? @GSPaton @benonwine With a bit of luck you could end up a ‘no use lazy bastard’ too. An accident, an illness or an unexpected breakdown, it could be you. 2 in 3 people get cancer in their life time and at 41 you have a long way to go to regret your hatred of vunerable people.

Let’s apply this same principle to MP’s.

IF CLAIMANTS NEED A RESTRICTED CARD, WHY NOT MPs?

Kemi Badenoch proposes putting some Universal Credit payments onto a restricted card.

No cash withdrawals. Certain purchases automatically blocked. Spending controlled before the money can be used.

So apply the same principle to public money spent by MPs.

Give every MP an MP Accountability Card.

Approved spending categories only.

Every transaction automatically recorded.

Every receipt matched.

Every supplier verified.

Every staffing payment checked.

Every accommodation payment independently verified.

Anything outside the rules gets blocked and flagged automatically.

MPs already have payment cards and IPSA audits their spending. The difference is simple.

If preventing misuse before it happens is considered appropriate for people receiving Universal Credit, why should taxpayers have to wait until afterwards to discover questionable spending by the people making the rules?
