BREAKING: APC is reportedly considering the withdrawal of the victories of 40 declared senatorial primary winners in a move aimed at accommodating incumbent senators.
Established in 1964 by Dennis Osadebe, the Asaba Textile Mill was once one of Nigeria's most important industrial projects.
Located along the Lagos–Onitsha Expressway in Asaba, the mill was created to produce 100% cotton African prints, generate employment, and stimulate economic growth in the region.
At its peak, the factory ranked as Nigeria's third-largest textile producer and employed more than 5,000 workers, making it a major contributor to the local economy.
However, years of financial difficulties, receivership, and legal disputes led to its collapse. Today, the once-thriving factory lies abandoned, with much of its equipment either lost or liquidated, while former workers continue to grapple with unresolved labor-related issues.
Despite repeated calls from the National Union of Textile, Garment and Tailoring Workers of Nigeria and other stakeholders for its revival, the mill remains non-operational as of 2026.
Many residents and investors continue to advocate for its rehabilitation or privatization as a means of creating jobs and revitalizing industrial activity in Delta State.
Ned Nwoko Rejects Delta APC Primary Result, Claims Victory Over Okowa
The camp of Ned Nwoko has rejected the outcome of the All Progressives Congress Delta North senatorial primary, insisting that the incumbent lawmaker not former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa won the contest held on May 18.
Speaking at a press conference in Abuja on Friday, Chris Okobah, legal adviser to Senator Nwoko, described the officially announced result as manipulated and inconsistent with records allegedly obtained from the field. Okobah claimed that Nwoko polled over 123,000 votes, while Okowa secured about 5,000 votes contrary to the official declaration that returned Okowa with 113,309 votes against Nwoko’s reported 2,612 votes.
He didn’t win the votes of the people. The people voted heavily for Ned Nwoko but Okowa’s camp of politicians and data boys announced Okowa as winner before the elections while the elections was under way. That viral clip was a a nollywood movie scam. Watch the real elections here👇🏾
Delta North APC Primaries Result Manipulated by State Government; I Won the Election - Nwoko
The APC primaries for Delta North took place across 98 wards. I have ward-by-ward video evidence showing that I won the election, and I will submit it to the party.
Halfway through the process, we received information that no results would be announced at the ward level. We were told the results would be announced at the national level. We assumed the party would follow due process. Instead, we were suddenly presented with a result from a single ward closely connected to the former governor, and that result was used as the metric for declaring the winner. The governor of Delta State is acting in cohort with Sen. Okowa.
Sen. Ned Nwoko

Okowa did not defeat Senator Ned Nwoko in primaries election.
The result have not been announced yet by the APC National Secretariat in Abuja.
Okowa and his media team are only manipulating the media.

I extend my deepest appreciation to the good people of Delta North for the remarkable show of support witnessed across our senatorial district today.
From ward to ward, across all local government areas, your presence was not just seen, it was felt. You came out in your numbers, you stood firm, and you made your voices heard in a way that leaves no room for doubt about where the mandate lies.
What we have witnessed is not ordinary political support. It is a powerful expression of trust, belief, and shared conviction in the future we are building together.
While we await the official declaration from our National Party Committee, the situation on the ground speaks for itself. The outcome, as reflected across the wards, remains overwhelmingly positive and deeply encouraging.
I do not take this show of confidence for granted. It reinforces my commitment to continue to stand for you, to represent you with strength, and to ensure that your voices are never diminished or overlooked.
_Senator Ned Munir Nwoko
