@deeharvey@SilverAlso The distribution of mathematical ability is highly skewed. For those somewhere in the right tail, A-level maths is a gentle stroll, but for those nearer the centre of the distribution it can be tough.
@HigherEd_UK@NicholasOShaug1 You cannot transfer into medicine from another tripos at Cambridge. However medics can intercalate in their third year. But they can study in this year can be limited by college directors of study.
@NicholasOShaug1 Changing tripos is really not that easy, and depends on a number of factors such as academic performance, space on the new course etc. for example, (last time I checked) you cannot transfer into medicine.
@martinmrmar Interesting. I’d expect these highly dilute general calculus textbooks to be way beneath the level expected of an MIT undergraduate. Bespoke productions would seem to make more sense.
@baryontensor Indeed, in maths at Cambridge in my day, two students per supervisor, usually working through student answers to example sheets, or working through difficulties from lectures. In the early eighties, this system was retained at Warwick university in the maths department.
@NRNCatholic Oh, I’m all for some thunderous organ where it belongs. My objection is to ruining the whole aesthetic of the chant. By all means compose a Te Deum with organ. In general chant and organ almost never mix.
@BruvverEccles Middlesbrough diocese is split by low population density areas (notably the moors). An alternative might be to send north Middlesbrough into Hexham, and York area into Leeds/Hallam.
