My parents had 4 daughters, and none of us have ever been sexually assaulted or raped. My mother was never raped, she married as a virgin. My grandmother was never raped either.
We have lived alongside men, shared spaces with them for extended periods, and they all respected boundaries without incident.
I once traveled alone and took a bike ride around 11pm, and the bike man didn't try to r@ped me. I have also lived alone in a compound as the only woman, and the men around me never threatened or tried to graped me.
This does not mean r@pe doesn't happen, but victims also bear some responsibility in certain situations.
It is interesting that you personally seem to know every woman who has been assaulted, yet you refuse to consider whether their own choices or actions played any role, and you reject any discussion of that.
You also completely ignore false rape accusations, which are quite common, and are even encouraged and celebrated by some of the very people you defend. Yet you expect others to take every claim seriously without question.
Where was your voice when that female teacher was sexually abusing an underage boy? Did you speak up to condemn it? Because if that kind of abuse goes unchallenged, what do you think happens to that boy as he grows up?
The conversation around sexual violence needs to be honest and complete. That means condemning all forms of abuse regardless of who the victim or perpetrator is, acknowledging that false accusations cause real damage, and having an open discussion about personal choices and safety.
Selective outrage helps no one. If you truly want change, you have to be willing to look at the full picture, not just the parts that support your argument.
“The church is the reason that people are unproductive”. Peter Obi never said this.
“The church is the reason that people are poor”. Peter Obi never said this.
“Churches are unproductive economically”.
Peter Obi never said this.
“You can not be productive and attend church”. Peter Obi never said this.
“You can not be a Christian and be productive”. Peter Obi never said this.
“Night vigils are the reason that Nigeria is backward”. Peter Obi never said this.
“Productive people never go to church”. Peter Obi never said this.
Peter Obi attacked the government for being so useless and incompetent causing many people to be jobless with so much idle time on their hands that some spend it all in churches praying for a better life.
That fact is not an attack on churches. That’s a statement of reality based on decades of government failing to do its duty to provide jobs and better people’s lives.
So Peter Obi's comment of “turning night Vigil to Night shift” is an indictment on the government who has failed to provide people with jobs and work opportunities. If anybody still struggles to comprehend this, I promise you, I will not deprive you of your right to choose wilful mental obtuseness.
Again to be very clear:
His statement is an attack on the government, and not the churches.
What I have come to realise is:
Many Nigerians actually have a serious comprehension problem. Some is largely due to deliberate dishonesty, others due to an unfortunate incapacity to simply process information.
If after the multiple explanations:
Anybody still writing long paragraphs explaining how the church is not the reason why people are unproductive- which was never the point that Peter Obi was making- is clearly at this point suffering from a wilful pathological miscomprehension.
Ladies & Gentlemen, after watching, rewatching & having carefully listened to Peter Obi speak for 2hrs, 50Mins & 24Secs on the Honest Bunch Podcast, I am very angry and disappointed at H.E Peter Obi. In fact, no body should beg me o,

When I saw Barr. Kenneth Okonkwo's @realkenokonkwo write-up yesterday, as always, I wanted to quickly discuss it with PO @PeterObi to get his thoughts. However, when I called him, he was in Awka as the keynote speaker at a large Rotary Club-organized meeting of the installation of Rotarian Prof. Nkemdidi AU Nnonyelu. Later that night, he was in Lagos. This morning, he went to Owerri for a scheduled meeting with Governor Alex Otti. When I tried to reach him again, he was on his way to another meeting before heading to yet another engagement outside Lagos. He later called me back this evening around 4 PM on his way out of Lagos.
While speaking to him, I expressed my worries and concerns about the departure of Bar Kenneth Okonkwo, mentioning some key points. He calmly responded, saying, "Mo, Kenneth, Balami, and others remain my beloved younger brothers, who, in due time, will realize the virtues of humility and patience in trying to do things in a peaceful manner.
In Nigeria, he continued, we have become all too accustomed to rascality and forcefully doing things, making noise, and bulldozing our way through, even when we are wrong. This behavior is often mistakenly seen as a measure of power or greatness. However, that yardstick must not continue to define us, because that is not the society we want to build. The society we preach is one that values doing things the right way, with integrity, patience, and perseverance, even if it takes time. We must shift our mindset and recognize that true greatness lies not in loud boasts or aggressive actions, but in quiet confidence, humility, and a commitment to excellence. By doing so, we can create a more just, equitable, and prosperous nation for all."
He said, "Mo, we all joined the Labour Party about 18 months ago. We spent the first year on campaigns, elections, and court proceedings. And now, I am expected to become a superman, scattering everything and achieving instant results." He continued, "I appreciate the patience and understanding of the Obidients and plead with them to let us be the example we want to see in our society. This is not the first time I have faced such challenging situations. In fact, this has been my trajectory in life - I am actually energized when people think I am weak and try to walk all over me for doing the right thing."
"Mo, all I can assure you is that doing the right thing is not a sign of weakness. Humility and patience are virtues, not weaknesses. It is a long journey, and I am committed to it. I encourage the #Obidients to do the same - let us walk this path together, with faith and perseverance. We will get there, and our efforts will be worth it in the end."
