@Primary_Pianist Testament means oath or Covenant, which is why the Mormon Church is false there are no other Covenants than the Covenant with Jesus at the Last Supper.
@realKellyKnight Interesting I compare the Mormon request to read and pray about the Book of Mormon to praying about whether the sky is green.
The Book of Mormon describes events in history that do not correspond to known history. No prayer needed the Book of Mormon is false
@Primary_Pianist There are no seer stones I know of in the Bible and the Urim and Thummim are not described at all, we do not know what they were or how they were used.
Sure Jesus is God but that does not allow His human nature to sin. It is similar when some claim Jesus shows disdain for Mary, that is His mother and His human nature cannot dishonor her. I agree completely that Jesus is God and therefore can do things that we cannot: He claimed to be God for example, performed miracles on the Sabbath, etc. But from my reading of Scripture aside from His claims to divinity He did not sin because He knew the Law as the lawmaker not because the laws did not apply to Him.
Lastly the method and goal of Saul versus Christians is very different. Saul in defiance of God used a medium to force a spirit back from death to gain information. Christians believing in the Resurrection ask their brothers and sisters in Heaven to pray for them. I don't really see a point of correlation except they are dead. That is why I asked about the Resurrection.
Please note for this I am not asserting that it is effective just not necromancy. I do believe it is effective but that is another matter.
The real issue is that the Book of Mormon is factually not true, no need to pray at all. I would not ask God if the sky was green and would not believe confirmation if I got it. If you feel a strong conviction that falsehood is true that says a lot about the spirit you rely upon but nothing about the truth.
@Scrip7urScholr That is a straw man, I am actually saying look at what Saul did to sin it looks nothing like what Christians do when they ask the intercession of Saints in Heaven why do you think they are the same? It seems more that you need them to be the same to condemn the practice.
@Scrip7urScholr Also God forbade necromancy the practice of consulting the dead to learn about the future. When Saul did in 1 Samuel 28 he consulted a witch who summoned the spirit back which looks nothing like what Jesus did and all Christians do, except Protestants.
