@bkaellner I watched this from the sidelines -- Li Lu, Mohnish Pabrai, you, etc. I’d love to read a real postmortem from the people who actually had skin in the game: “Here’s what I thought I owned, here’s when I sold, and here’s why.”
@mattyglesias I refuse to believe that the great-grandchildren of the Dunkirk generation don't still carry that spirit deep within them. Their parents' generation may have put them into this "Weak men create hard times" phase of the historical cycle. But that Dunkirk spirit is still there.
@dollarsanddata High-income renter here. Buying the house we rent would cost ~60% more per month. Owners benefit from their lower rates & purchase prices, but I'll come out ahead by investing that 60% gap. Plus, I'll keep future geographic optionality.
@charliebilello love your work, Charlie, thanks for consistently publishing high quality work for free. I do have to push back on this one: I'd call it a sample size of 2, not 75. It basically shows that early-Covid and the GFC had huge volatility, but everything was fine a year later.
